Shadow Kin - Race Sheet

This race is open for anyone to use, just please read everything and post your Shadow Kin so I can keep track of all of them.

Also the 1 2 3 is 1. chicken egg 2. Drider egg 3. Riding Lizard egg

Height: 4 - 5 feet for males, 4 1/2 - 6 feet for Females

Gender Differences: To the Shadow Kin Gender is everything, there taught Females are better in every way, the fact that they are usually bigger, stronger, and better educated then Males doesn't help. The Males are taught to be disposable shoulders for there Female, wile the females fight there way up a vicious pecking order often punctuated by a dagger.

Base Personality: The best words to describe there personalities are, Cruel, Selfish, and Backstabbing. Tho most of this is taught to them when they are young ether by a teacher, or first hand experience, 'there lives are short if they do not make others shorter'

Eyes: They have bright eyes that glow in the dark, they have no pupils, like the Star Children. Unlike them they can see perfectly in pure darkness, tho a night lite by a full moon is to them, is like the brightest summer day to anyone else.

Cutie Marks: They can have any Cutie Mark that any other pony might, but they cover them with the thought that to know someponies strength means you know there weakness.

Colors: They can be any color but there coats are darkened like there fur was burned, which it was by the curse of the Star Tree.

Clothes: They have little to make cloths out of but like any culture what they do have is divided between upper and lower class materials.

4 materials used by the Shadow kin,
Leather, low end is Riding Lizard hide, high end is pony hide.
Silk, low end Drider silk, high end spider silk.
Woven Fabrics, low end are the ones made from the local plant life of the underground, high end is taken from the surface ponies.
Armor and Weapons, low end is made from the carapaces of Driders or bone, high end is made from refined metals.

   Earth- Unless being dressed for something by a noble will often have the lowest end materials to wear and work with, tho it might be to there advantage sense reinforced leathers are a staple amongst beast handlers.
   Unicorn- often wrapped in fin silks and leathers, they are almost all upper class and so dress like it.
   Pegasi- If not a slave in a noble house on employed for the unique ability to move noiselessly, they are treated like the Earth Kin and so will not be wearing the best.

Mains and Tails: like there fur there mains and tails can be just as colorful as any ponies but always have a hu that make them look like ash ether from dark to light, white and silver being the most prized color. Main and Tail length tho is a sign of class slaves having it docked off completely wile nobles wear it long, most others if they have long hair it is hidden on hairstyles or simple ponytails. Nobles tho as a show of power will have commoners hair cut in public sometime simply because they thought the commoner had nicer looking hair then they thought they should.

Beasts of Burden:
   Driders- Those cursed by Lloth they are thought to be the steed of the Highest ranked amongst the Nobility simply for the fact that they are hard to train and keep under control. Tho males are only big enough to be used as normal steeds, often ridden by the guards of a City Matron, wile female Driders are so large that they are used like a walking room. sometimes to show power a Matron will have a large dinner on the back of one.
   Riding Lizards- taking 15 years to mature to there full size Riding Lizards are often pets tell they outgrow the inside of a house and then they are trained to the common work animal, doing everything from hauling carts and being ridden. Still ill tempered they are easier to train and control then a Drider, but still often used as war mounts, when the rare occasion real war does brake out.
   Slaves- Used for heavy labor or Shadow Kin who don't want to trust there carts to a sometime finicky lizard, and not just Ponies the Slaves are often other Shadow Kin that got captured from one city and sold to another. Shadow Kin slaves have the tip of there left ear cropped off.

Flora and Fauna: oddly much lives in the darkness of the underground, but there are certain things that are impotent to the Shadow Kins.
   Lantern Mushrooms- A inedible Mushroom that grows in the underground and gives off a faint glow colored by the minerals in the ground. The larger the Mushroom the brighter the glow tho they only get about the size of a cow at there largest and the glow even at that size is not enough for normal ponies to see well in, but perfect for the sensitive eyes of the Shadow Kin. These mushrooms are encouraged to grow in there cities and some major trade tunnels. tho they die in sunlight the spoors that do catch a ride up to surface caves if not cut back can give the inside of the cave a faint haunting glow that can be seen from the surface at night.
   Life Moss- A common moss that grows where ever it is planted it pervades basic vitamins and minerals to survive tho it's taste and texture is likened to chowing on spongy dirt.
   Canteen Plants- A fruiting vine that grows out of water, the large thick shelled nuts it grows are full of drinkable water no mater the toxicity or stagnation of the water it grows out of.
   Jewel Hide Spiders- a common 'pet' it is a breed of spider that has a thick, colorful, and polished looking carapaces the biggest they grow is about the size of the palm of ones hand, and are often covered in jewels and gold or silver to be a kind of living jewellery.
   Assassin Beetle- a highly venomous bug that can be found in some of the darkest places of the underground, they are only about the size of a quarter and have been known to 'find there way' into people beds.

Religion: the sharpest blade has nothing on the body count that the faithful leave in there wake.
   Lloth- the dominant religion because her followers have ether killed or transformed into Driders all dissenters that they could find, it teaches that she surface banished and cursed them out of spite. Lloth herself requiring living sacrifices daily, the faithful taught by her that this constant culling of the Shadow Kin will strengthen them so they can take there revenge upon the surface world. The other thing taught by Lloth is that Males are replaceable, and the Female being the one to bring life into the world is the stronger and more needed gender, bringing forward the Cultural mistreatment and almost hatred of males amongst the Shadow Kin.
   Weaver- Known my many names to hide the followers identities 'Grandmother Spider', 'Lonely Star', or 'Dew Drop' after the tiny florescent white spiders that live all over the deepest parts of the underground. They are taught the truth that Lloth was the cause of there curse, and that they will only be a great people once again if they learn to simply be a proper people. not good or evil they followers of the Weaver fallow the philosophy that everypony is a thread in the tapestry of life, no mater how short or dull the thread may be, all would unravel without them, and that even a simple thread can change the portret in the tapestry with even the simplest of movements. with this they try to change the coarse of there peoples future to bring them back to the light of the surface and out of the darkness of there own design. Weaverites as they call themselves believe that when they die there soul become the Dew Drop spiders and assist there great lady not only in weaving the tapestry of life but also delivering her messages to other faithful and when the tree returns they will rejoin with it and become Star Children.

Life and Death: Normally they should live around 300 year, but most die around 30 because of this they are forced to grow up fast, childhood even being frot with dark and painful lessons. They can breed with normal ponies, always ending up with 2 offspring a pony and a Shadow Kin, tho often these unions are looked down upon and the children of them often treated poorly by others if there linage is ever discovered, Tho more often then not it is the product of a deprecate young unmated male Shadow Kin and a slave pony female. Since male Shadow Kin not only have to be picked by a female to even get to mate, it is not a very fulfilling relationship.

Magic: Tho other then Unicorns there is no real magic in the other breeds they have talents that could be described as such.
   Earth- Having a unique and deep connection with plants and animals they are normally the farmers and handlers, tho there unusual sturdiness gets the Males often conscripted as solders.
   Pegisi- there wings so small to be on the point of useless and there bones and bodies being rather frail and easily broken they have one unique ability, they walk noiselessly even when walking though water or on snow they make no noise. so they are often trained to be assassins or a nobles house staff.
